Video Conferencing

The Video Conferencing Usability project is now complete. This project has provided recommendations related to the delivery of biomedical science SWan modules using video conferencing, in order to create the best possible student experience for remotely based students taking these modules from partner institutions.

What did the Innovation Award involve?

The project team carried out the following:

  • Observed and interviewed some of the biomedical science lecturers.
  • Collected feedback from the students who attended the showcase event in March 2009.
  • Learnt from experts in media studies about how to work with cameras.
  • Reflected on the actual physical spaces to be used for the delivery.

The result was a report and PowerPoint presentation on helpful tips for teaching staff. They are also creating some helpful videos to illustrate some of the recommendations. These are available through the SWan videoconferencing community on the One Community site.
