Course director Jelena Petrovic talks about the benefits of undertaking the Leadership and Management in Health MSc:
"Leadership and Management in Health is a flexible and modular programme. It is managed by Kingston Business School, Kingston University, in partnership with the School of Management, Royal Holloway, University of London and St George's, University of London. These three centres of learning excellence are the principal members of the Institute of Leadership & Management in Health (ILMH).
This unique programme is specifically designed to meet the needs of those already working, or intending to work, in the health and social care services in the public, private and voluntary sectors in both the UK and internationally. Its evidence base is drawn from the latest research and practice in health sector leadership and management, combined with the practical application of new knowledge and skills to work-based situations. The course is based on the new health leadership competencies in the UK, and all assessments are designed to have application in the workplace."
What will you study?
There will be an induction programme introducing you to the modules and the aims of the course, and giving guidance on the approach to study. The programme starts with a personal assessment, using the leading edge Saville Consultancy Wave TM. This assesses personal leadership strengths and identifies areas for development.
Postgraduate Certificate students take four specialists modules. Postgraduate Diploma students take eight specialist modules (seven core and one selected). Masters students, in addition to eight modules, take a research methods module and undertake a dissertation.
Professional and leadership development activities will take place throughout the course, and there will be many opportunities for updating and broadening knowledge through attending events arranged by the SWAN partners and ILMH.
