Research
ILMH runs a signficiant number of research projects, funded by a variety of organisations. The National Insitute for Health Research Service Delivery and Organisation Programme (SDO) provides financial support for four projects:
- 'Change management - Leadership and better patient care: From idea to practice'
- 'Decentralisation and performance: Autonomy and incentives in local health economies'
- 'Networks in healthcare: A comparative study of their management impact and performance'
- 'Understanding the barriers and facilitators of effective implementation of self-care in mental health trusts'.
In addition to the SDO's £1.27 million, ILMH is also supported by the Economic & Social Research's Council's Public Services Programme. The project entitled 'The Visible and Invisible Performance Effects of Transparency in Medical Professional Regulation' has been awarded a grant of £99,000.
Centre for Public Services Organisations (CPSO)
The CPSO, based at Royal Holloway, brings together a number of research projects in the field of organisational analysis of the public services. Its purpose is to carry out rigorous and relevant research into contemporary public service organisations, in particular focusing on: organisational change, organisational learning and decision making. - Design and reporting on the St George’s NHS Trust Hospital at Night project
- An operational study of St George’s NHS Trust Medical Assessment Unit. How doctors make use of organisational resources and interaction with others in the complex process of diagnosis and deciding on treatment care path against the potentially opposing objectives of patient care and unit throughput.
