About

Broad aim – to support new research initiatives in the area of interprofessionalism within SWan institutions. Specifically:

  • Aims to provide a literature resource base for the research of interprofessionalism (includes interprofessional practice, interprofessional education and the nature of professionalism and professional practice more broadly, as it impinges on interprofessionalism)
  • Functions to locate, provide or conduct relevant literature searches or locate/provide copies of key literature. Where possible/relevant annotated bibliographies or full literature reviews may be conducted. Aims to capitalise on work which has already been done, both within and outside the SWan HEI’s.
  • Investigates/establishes networks (including electronic/technological) for the sharing/pooling of literature resources. This will start internally to SWan, and then may expand more broadly, depending on resourcing.
  • Four part time Research Assistants (RAs) are currently employed to assist staff at the three HEIs. Although located at particular institutions, they are able to work across all sites.

    • Yenn Lee (RHUL) yen.lee@rhul.ac.uk
    • Urszula Wolski (RHUL) urszula.wolski@rhul.ac.uk
    • Caroline Norrie (SGUL) cnorrie@sgul.ac.uk
    • Kingston: TBC

  • RAs may:

    • Conduct literature searches
    • Locate/identify relevant literature reviews
    • Write annotated bibliographies
    • Write literature reviews
    • Identify/liaise with staff who have conducted relevant literature reviews
    • Assist staff in writing relevant research grant applications
    • Assist in providing key information re research grants (may liaise with existing services to do this)
    • Assist in investigating systems for the pooling/sharing of literature resources.
  •
  • Access to resources available to all IPI- affiliated staff initially, then may expand to be more broadly available (once a workable resourcing base is established). The assistance of RAs may be accessed by contacting the Director who will advise staff on the suitability of their proposed project and will help staff liaise with the relevant RA.
  • Consideration will be given to asking that any projects which utilize the assistance of RA’s will make resulting literature searches/reviews accessible to other IPI affiliated staff.
  • Consists of holdings of:

    • Relevant literature reviews in aspects of interprofessionalism eg. teamwork
    • Holdings of key literature (journal articles) in interprofessionalism
    • Annotated/Bibliographies of relevant literature
    • Bibliographic listings
    • Key concept papers
