Mobile Working: Better for the employee and the employer....
...was a key finding of research conducted by Prof. Christine Edwards, Director of ILMH, in conjunction with T-Mobile UK. The Demise of the Desk Hugger Report 2009, which looked at mobile working and HR practices, concluded that it provides a better work-life balance for the employee, while enabling the employers to focus on output rather than hours visibly spent at a desk.
Prof. Edward's findings have been picked up by a number of high profile trade publications, including Personnel Today, My Business, Computer Weekly and Consultant News. Some of you may even have heard her speaking about her research on Radio Jackie.

Within just one month, the SouthWest London Academic Network will have held four Roadshows across its members' sites. The ball began to roll on 15th October at St George's, where staff from a variety of disciplines - the Joint Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences, Surgery, Nursing and the Library, for example - turned up to find out how they might contribute their skills.
The event kicked off with an introduction by Professor Sean Hilton, Acting Principal at St George's, followed by presentations by each of the three Institute leads. After a short break for lunch, a lively Q&A session ensued. This concluded, and set the format for, a series of well-attended introductory events for the Alliance.
